A Year End Digest

2017 has been quite the year, and has brought quite the number of events with it. On the fortuitous spectrum, the last year brought forth the creation of The Attic On Eighth. This little aesthetic corner of the internet has not only provided a place of sanctuary and brought its creators closer together as friends, it has served to introduce us to a host of like-minded readers and amazing voices. We could not be more grateful. For all of your likes, shares, comments, readership, support... thank you. For this special Year End Edition of our Digest, we've selected your absolute favorites. – R.R.

READ:

Your favorite Literature pieces took the form of reading lists this year – notably with author M.L. Rio's Campus Novels Off the Beaten Path and Literature Editor Olivia's Eight Gentler Women's Novels, but our favorite moment came when Eliza & Rory reviewed M.L. Rio's If We Were Villains through text messages

REWIND:

2017 brought a lot of television adaptions and reboots, and we looked at some of them – from The Handmaid's Tale to Anne of Green Gables, to the L Word

RESIST:

The Political pervades every aspect of culture these days, and our Political Editor Lauren kept you informed throughout 2017; memorable pieces including the question of Ivanka Trump and her power, an introductory reading list race in America, and a plea for men to step forward

REFLECT:

The Beauty Section launched this Spring by asking whether beauty matters and you found that it does, following along as Beauty Editor Rory tried new palettes and prepped her skin for all kinds of weather, and even as Literature Editor Olivia decided whether or not to bob her hair.

RELATE:

Lifestyle Editor Lee shared a lot of advice this year, but yours and our favorite pieces came from when our Editors shared their life experiences, from turning thirty to struggling through grad school and discussing anxiety.

RELISH:

Caffeine is the love of several of our Editors's lives and it seems to be the same for you – you loved our coffee-infused chocolate cookies and a tea recipe for when you're sick. Still, our Editors' favorite moments came from Fashion Editor Raquel's cocktail shaker

RETHREAD:

The literary fashion pieces were your favorite this year – especially when it comes to dressing like your favorite novel, but you also loved looking at ways to keep witchy vibes going through warmer weather.

ROAM:

2017 took the Attic Editors all over the world and they shared glimpses of their trips with you, from Edinburgh's bookshops, turn of the century hotels in Istanbul, and to every corner of Dublin.

Bonus! While we loved all of our pieces this first year, our favorite moments came from when we all joined forces – notably through The Proust Questionnaire and through our new lifestyle series, By Our Bedsides.

Happy New Year to you, our dear readers, and we hope to see you in 2018!
